Verso Circle
The community for people who study how it's made.
1,240 motion designers, directors and editors trading feedback, breakdowns and the occasional job lead. Free to join — here's exactly what that means.
What you actually get
Weekly feedback threads
Post a work-in-progress clip every Thursday; the studio and community leave real timing notes — frame numbers, not just praise.
The breakdown library
40+ shot-by-shot breakdowns of studio work, with the actual rig files and easing curves — not a recap, the real project.
Monthly live critique
A live session on the Live page where four member reels get pulled apart and rebuilt, recorded for anyone who misses it.
First access + member pricing
Circle members hear about new Motion Method cohorts a week early, at a rate nobody outside the Circle gets.
This is for you if
- You're animating for clients or a portfolio and want faster feedback than a subreddit
- You finished a tutorial and don't know what to do with the skill next
- You want to see real project files, not polished case-study screenshots
It's not for you if
- You want a passive newsletter — this asks you to post your own work
- You're looking for paid client leads (that's not what this is)
- You want software support — this is about craft, not troubleshooting AE

Member voices
“I posted a client reel I was embarrassed by. Got four timing notes back in a day that fixed exactly what I couldn't name was wrong.”

Priya Shah
Freelance motion designer
“The breakdown library alone is worth more than two paid courses I bought last year. Real files, not screen recordings.”

Devon Okafor
In-house editor, streaming studio
“I lurked for two months before posting anything. First time I did, three senior editors left notes. Nobody made me feel small for asking.”

Wren Castillo
Junior motion designer
The rhythm
It never goes quiet.
Every Thursday
Feedback thread opens
Post one clip, get notes from the studio and at least three members before it closes Sunday.
First Tuesday
Live critique session
Four member reels, pulled apart live on the Live page. Recorded if you can't make it.
Ongoing
Monthly challenge
One constraint (a sound cue, a single typeface, a 3-second limit) — optional, always has the loosest, most experimental posts of the month.

Why Mara built this
“I spent years learning timing by staring at other people's work frame-by-frame with no one to ask. The Circle is the room I wish had existed — it's not a funnel to the course, it's the thing I actually wanted built first.”
More about MaraThe honest answer
Why is it actually free?
Because gatekeeping feedback behind a paywall produces worse animators, and worse animators produce worse briefs for studios like ours. The Circle is free because the craft gets better when more people can ask a real question and get a real answer. The Motion Method is the paid, structured version for people who want six weeks instead of an open thread — the Circle was never meant to fund that, it was meant to exist regardless.

Questions
Yes — no trial period, no paywalled tier above it. The Motion Method course is a separate, optional paid product.
No. Students and hobbyists post alongside working editors — the feedback threads don't gate by experience level.
The studio actively reads every Thursday thread and replies to anything the community hasn't caught within 48 hours.
You can, but the community is healthiest when people post — we'll nudge you gently, never pressure you.
